👤 How to Build a Realistic Survivor
Every character in the DZXRP is more than a gamertag — they’re a person trying to survive a brutal world.
This guide will help you build a grounded, believable survivor that fits the tone of the Deadzone and brings depth to your roleplay.
🧠 Step 1: Know the World
DZXRP is a post-collapse setting where:
- Nations have fallen
- Society has fractured
- Factions rise and fall constantly
- Death, fear, and hunger are everyday threats
📖 Read the Lore Summaries before creating your character.
You don’t need to know everything — just understand the world you’re stepping into.
🔍 Step 2: Define Who They Are (and Why)
Ask yourself:
- Where did they come from?
- What have they lost?
- Why are they still alive?
- What keeps them going?
A strong backstory isn’t about length — it’s about motivation.
⚖️ Step 3: Give Them Strengths & Flaws
Perfect characters are boring. Survivors should have:
- Skills (scavenger, medic, leader, engineer)
- Flaws (paranoia, addiction, arrogance, trauma)
These flaws should affect how they make decisions and interact with others.
💡 Example: A former soldier may be brave in a firefight but emotionally numb or cold in conversation.
🎯 Step 4: Pick a Goal
Even if it changes later, start with a purpose:
- Protect a family member
- Rebuild a town
- Find a rumoured cure
- Become rich, feared, or famous
This gives your RP direction and invites others into your story.
🧠 Step 5: Stay Grounded
Avoid clichés and overpowered types like:
- “Ex-Navy SEAL turned mutant killer”
- “Amnesiac chosen one with no flaws”
- “Immortal bandit warlord who wins every fight”
Instead, ask:
“Would this person survive in a world like DZXRP?”
If not, scale back. Mystery is fine — but it has to feel earned.
🎭 Step 6: Think About Voice & Presence
- Do they speak with confidence or caution?
- Are they aggressive or diplomatic?
- Do they blend in or demand attention?
Character isn’t just backstory — it’s how you behave when people are watching.
📈 Step 7: Allow Them to Grow
Your character doesn’t need to be fully defined on day one.
Let the world shape them.
- Trauma may harden them.
- Alliances may soften them.
- Time may unravel or rebuild them.
Some of the best arcs happen by accident — if you let them.
🧠 Final Questions to Ask
- What would my survivor fear the most?
- Who would they die to protect?
- What line won’t they cross?
- What line might they cross… one day?
DZXRP isn’t about winning. It’s about surviving — and what that does to you.
Make your survivor feel like they lived a life before Livonia…
…and still have something to fight for.
