Survivor Slang & Terminology

🗣️ DZXRP Terminology & Slang

This guide explains the most common IC (In-Character) and OOC (Out-of-Character) terms used across DZXRP.
New to roleplay or DayZ? Don’t worry — this list has your back.


🔁 General RP Terms

  • IC – In Character: your in-game survivor persona
  • OOC – Out of Character: you as a real life human
  • KOS – Kill on Sight
  • Permadeath – Permanent death of a character
  • Metagaming – Using OOC info to influence RP
  • Powergaming – Forcing outcomes without giving the other player choice

🌍 Lore & Server-Specific

  • Livonia – The region where current RP is set (post-eruption)
  • Sakhal – A lawless region without RP. (Public PvP Server).
  • Blackout – A three-hourly server reset.

📡 Radio & Discord

  • UNICOM – Universal Communication channel for anonymous text transmissions in game.
  • ICOM – Your discord which acts as your in-game radio.
  • ICOM Frequency – An individual’s Gamertag explained IC.

👥 Group Terms

  • Faction – A formalised group of survivors
  • Camp – A small group of survivors sharing a space
  • Settlement – A reasonable group of survivors settled with a level of governance.
  • Aid Network – The post infection humanitarian group branched from the UN.
  • JTF Phoenix – A NATO Joint Task Force involved in the DZXRP/ARXRP milsim crossovers.

🔫 Conflict & Survival

  • Initiation – Beginning hostile RP (e.g., “Put your hands up!”)
  • CL – Combat Log (logging out mid-RP or conflict, forbidden)
  • NVFL – No Value For Life (acting unrealistically brave or careless)
  • Risk v Reward – Understanding that high rewards usually come with high risk
