The Fall of New Hope City & The Rise of Solaris: Sakhal’s Survivor Landscape Shifts

New Hope City: A Crumbling Legacy

For months, New Hope City stood as a beacon of medical aid and sanctuary, upheld by the Responders and the region’s scattered survivor groups. But following weeks of attacks, sabotage, and growing instability, the city has fallen completely into ruin.

Reports indicate that the final collapse came in the form of indirect artillery strikes and ram-raiding vehicles breaching the city’s border checkpoints. By the time survivors regrouped, it was too late. The city was already ablaze, its medical supplies scattered, its people displaced.

While no single faction has officially claimed responsibility, whispers among the refugees suggest a connection between the city’s fall and a shipwreck that unleashed the infection upon Sakhal.

The question remains: Was New Hope City targeted for its resources, or was it erased to conceal a darker truth?

The Volcanic Eruption & A Poisoned Land

Adding to the chaos, a sudden, unprecedented volcanic eruption spewed a toxic gas cloud across the valley. Unlike traditional eruptions, this event did not bring lava, but instead a substance eerily similar to the PO-X gas—the same chemical agent tied to military bio-experiments in Livonia and Chernarus.

A convoy of survivors attempting to flee was caught in the blast, forcing them to abandon vehicles and continue on foot in the brutal cold.

This cataclysmic event has left many wondering: Was this eruption natural, or is something beneath Sakhal’s surface stirring once more?

Solaris: The New Hope?

With New Hope City lost, many survivors—including former Responders, JTF Phoenix personnel, and independent groups—have sought shelter in Solaris, a settlement long spoken of in whispers but never fully verified.

Now confirmed to exist, Solaris is reportedly led by Edgar “Bones” Graves, with Nikolai “Koin” Petrecho managing trade efforts.

The settlement’s exact location remains classified, but it is believed to be a secure military installation repurposed for survival efforts.

The Wanderer’s Guild has reached out to establish communication with Solaris, seeking cooperation on trade, security, and medical resource management.

With fuel supplies dwindling and supply chains severed, Solaris may be the last functioning safe zone in Sakhal. But as history has proven time and again, safety is always temporary.

The Future of Sakhal

  • The JTF Phoenix airfield and Severomorsk docks are abandoned. With these supply chains gone, Sakhal faces a growing resource crisis.
  • Fuel stations remain damaged, but efforts are underway to repair at least one to stabilize movement.
  • Syndicate activity remains high, with sabotage operations continuing to disrupt infrastructure.
  • The Wasteland Cartographers are shifting focus toward mapping Solaris, tracking remaining survivors, and investigating the unexplained seismic activity.

As Sakhal rebuilds, the question remains:

Will Solaris succeed where New Hope City failed, or is history doomed to repeat itself?

Stay safe, survivors. The world watches.
