It’s just shifting past 2:15pm as I type this. Deciphering time zones isn’t a new thing in the DZXRP. You might often hear a survivor mention their ‘internal body clock’ leading them to need to crash out.
We’re not here to discuss post apocalyptic sleeping habits though, are we? No. We’re here to discuss all things related to the Day Z 1.17 Console update. Constantly checking the console for an update.
I’m not going to list the anticipated changes as I’ve already done this here (obviously before we came up with the ingenious idea of having our own website…) and bear in mind there’s been a number of additions to this list, really exciting additions that we will look into.
What I do want to do is lay out our expectation and some highlights to look forward to once the Day Z 1.17 Console Update drops today.
The Wipe
For the most obvious right now, and important questions we’ve been asked. It’s ‘Are we wiping’? Yes we are and by now, at the time of publishing we have.
Our very own xDESERTDOGx was up at the crack of dawn ready to get the ball rolling and make way for the update and necessary prep into ‘Episode One’. The wipe will be complete no later than 09:00 PST (see below table for timings).

What's happening?
One thing we know for sure not just with this update but for 2022 is a sh*tload.
While we don’t yet have the patch notes (Bohemia have promised this later though) we have spent time on the experimental servers.
Every Xbox Roleplay server usually quietens down during times like the last few weeks.
Survivors begin to hibernate as if to anticipate some treacherous storm not knowing if the world they wake up in will be for better or worse. Lets be honest, if Sean Bean were to appear atop Kopa Prison and declare ‘Winter is Coming’, he wouldn’t really seem out of place.
It’s a time where admins and mods across the virutal RP world of Day Z get together and start curating the next part of their plan. For example updating lore (a task for us which to be dealt with swiftly after this post).
Goodies Galore
The experimental servers although in Chernarus have given some brilliant time to get used to the new additions and tweaks coming with the update.
Some highlights include…
- Using a Meat Tenderiser can be rather satisfying on the infected.
- Longhorn Pistol, you need a particular taste for it. Scoped sidearms personally make me nauseous.
- Chasing a goat with a craftable spear is ridiculously entertaining and a great way to pass the time.
- Artillery Explosions still get the brown adrenaline going.
- Bone Knives in addition to being practical, look pretty slick.
- No more thumb cramp or asking people to wait as I couldn’t look into my pocket and speak at the same time. Double tap to activate or push-to-talk as normal.
There’s a whole number of things we still haven’t even brushed upon yet including the extensive improvisation items you can now craft, other weapon systems and a really nice improvement on item actions allowing better cycling through options.
